Hello ... Bill DeMorrow here .... researching my family on and off for years. I have always ran into a block with Paul Demaret - Desmarais. His wedding (PRDH) lists Jacques as father and the only one that fits that I can find died at 1 year. Is it possible that The Jacques born 1590 did not die? Any insight here would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Hi Bill....Really can't be much help, but some quick research I have found some information, how reliable??? I have found Jacques's DoB as 1626 at one reference (https://gw.geneanet.org/mainepoitou?lang=en&pz=aime+honore+louis&nz=clerte&ocz=4&p=jacques&n=desmarets);and also Dob of 1630 and DoD of 10-14-1681 at another reference (https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Marie_Laporte_(2)); and then another with DOB of 1630 (http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~chatweb/genealogy/b148.htm#P21219) and then Geni.com (https://www.geni.com/people/Jacques-Desmarais/6000000005791458436) provides us with 1630.

From all this, I would estimate a DoB of Jacques of 1630 and 14 Oct 1681 as his death. The Jacques born in 1590 would be ruled out, basically because of age. Paul being born in 1656, would make Jacques 66 years old when Paul was born, highly unlikly.

I personally would go with Jacques with DoB of 1630, who married Marie Marthe LaPorte born about 1635. There are two entries on WikiTree that are identical but different last name spellings, Demarets-5 and Desmarais-21. Both have some dates.

I hope I have been helpful, and this clears up your road block. Have a great day and happy WikiTeering.
